Douglas Deramo

January 25, 1943 — October 30, 2020

Douglas Franklin Deramo was born January 25, 1943 to Alexander and Annie Ford-Deramo. Doug passed from this life on October 30, 2020 at the age of seventy-seven years old.

Doug was preceded in death by his siblings, Joyce Johnson, David Deramo, Lloyd Deramo, Naomi Mattheyer, Sam Deramo, John Deramo, and Bill Deramo.

Doug has left behind a large family who bears his legacy. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Wanda Deramo. Doug also left behind his daughter, Laura and her husband, Daren McMillen along with their children, Mikayla and her husband, Blake Owens and  Kyler and his wife, Megan McMillen; his daughter, Cathy Deramo and her children, Paige, Allie, and Gunner Putman; his son, Brian and his wife, Jenny Deramo and their children, Bella and Alex; his stepdaughter, Debbie and her husband, Kendall Decker and their children; his stepdaughter, Bonnie Morgan and her children, and many great-grandchildren.

Doug served proudly in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1968-1969 as part of the 45th Infantry Division.

Doug loved his dump truck and made his living hauling anything that paid the bills. Some of his children’s fondest memories involve getting to ride in the dump truck with their dad.

Doug had a larger than life personality and eyes that sparkled with mischief. Some of his favorite things to do were to go to the casino, go dancing, and win money as a pool shark. He also loved gospel music, country music, old western movies, and treats to satisfy his sweet tooth.

When Laura, Cathy, and Brian reminisce about their loving father they tell stories of playing poker with the crew in the club house at the quarry, trips to the sale barn complete with a hamburger with mustard and onions, and Thursday night trips to Ken’s Pizza and Walmart. Later in his adult years he was known for dancing, cleaning his kids’ windshields, and taking family out for a Frosty after dinner.

We mourn the loss of Doug in this world, but we take comfort in knowing that Doug is dancing down the streets of gold and talking up a storm. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 assures us that Doug’s future is secure. “And now, dear brothers and sisters; we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.” We grieve Doug’s passing, but we rejoice knowing that Doug is in the presence of the Lord.
