Douglas Robert Leierer made his grand entrance into this world on April 12, 1960 to Jay E and Glendene Leierer (Stewart) and left this earth on January 5, 2025. He was the youngest (and oneriest) of four siblings to brothers Jay Dean and David and sister, Jackie.
Doug grew up near Ringwood, Oklahoma and spent most of his life there. And boy what a life it was. He attended Ringwood Schools (when he wanted to) where he was involved in showing pigs, playing football, and likely causing trouble with his friends. With lots of help, he graduated from Ringwood High School in 1979.
Soon after graduation, Doug went to work in the oilfield, which led him to La Grange, Texas where he met Tina Parks (Leierer) and fell in love with her and her one-year-old daughter, Tisha. Tisha took to Doug as if he was meant to be her Dad, and he raised her as his own. The couple wed in 1981 and were married for nineteen years. The first great era of his life were spent next to a showring with Tish as she showed her animals, at the entry gate sending Tish off on Rusty to run barrels and poles, in arenas riding Peewee, team roping, and participating in Ranch Rodeos with his good friends under the Diamond L brand, yet the team nickname was always, “One Out of the Money.” Doug was one of the best dozer and backhoe operators around, but mostly he would be found doing what he loved the most - doctoring cattle out in the pasture, gathering crazy Mexican cattle that hid in thick trees, you name it, he was always up for the chance to “cowboy” for anyone who needed help.
Doug then met and married Marleen Dennett (Leierer). Doug was blessed with his second daughter, Sophia Alberta, on November 18, 2000. On July 11, 2002, he was blessed once more with the son he always wanted, Dalton Evan. The family made their home West of Ringwood where Doug spent the next great era of his life being a devoted father to Sophie and Dalton. Doug never once missed a chance to lead Sophie and Cally boy into the arena, and never let her go in alone. Dalton, much like his dad, is good at everything he does, and Doug was so proud to watch his son play sports at Timberlake. Doug would cheer from the truck, flashing his lights and honking when Dalton made a good play.
In Doug’s most recent era of life, his love for Red River, New Mexico became his focus. He found peace and solace in the mountains on horseback gathering cattle. Some of his best memories and proud moments were spent taking his children and granddaughters snow skiing over Spring Break in Red River, and enjoying a good drink and laugh with his close friends. Doug took up golfing, even in his cowboy hat. It became one of the best past times with his friends, but especially with Tisha, Sophie, and Dalton.
To know Doug, was to love Doug. He was literally the person who would give you the shirt off his back, and boots if you needed it. He was the most understanding non-judgmental human on the planet. When Doug was involved, it was guaranteed to be a great time! We can all hear him say, “Gosh dang it.” He will be missed by all who knew him and we will all miss his smile and laugh. He is unforgettable as many stories will be told and laughs to be had about Doug for many years to come.
Doug is survived by his ultimate pride and joys, his children, Tisha Lampkins and husband, Andrew, Sophia Leierer and boyfriend, Garrett Hodgden and Dalton Leierer; his loving mother, Glendene Stewart; grandchildren, Libertee, Paizlee, Mia, Leyten and Julian; brothers, Jay Dean Leierer and wife, Karen, David Leierer and wife, Twila; sister, Jackie Phillips and husband, Rob; nephew and nieces – Chuck Leierer, Stacie Caywood, Susan Newman, Marcia Reeves, Darci Smith, and Laci Rigg and several great nieces and nephews; his bonus daughters he cared deeply for, Miranda Gains and Cora Pheatt, and the hundreds of friends, all of whom he loved so much.
