Don Carpenter left this world on Saturday March 15, 2025. He was born on April 2, 1935 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Don attended elementary school in Cranston, Rhode Island and graduated from Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska.
He then served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado in 1959. Don retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Don is a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, as well as a member of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church in Cherokee.
Don is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Gerber Carpenter; three sons, James of Hastings, Nebraska, Jeff and wife, Carol of Anaconda, Montana and Lance and wife, Carrie of Lakewood, Colorado; three daughters, Susan Yarborough of Tennessee, Teresa Petty of Commerce City, Colorado, Annalisa Roggow and husband, Tim of Alva, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; sister-in-law, Glenda Stone as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
He is preceded by his parents, three brothers, one sister and one nephew.
Funeral service will be Tuesday March 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Lanman Funeral Home Chapel in Cherokee followed by burial at the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. www.lanmanfuneralhome.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
