Denzil Acklin was born on January 14, 1929 in Johnston City, Illinois to Charles and Bertie (Spiller) Acklin and passed from this life on August 21, 2018 at his home near Helena, Oklahoma. In 1932 when Denzil was three his family moved from Illinois to Colorado where they lived at the Superior Mining Camp. Ten years later they moved to Boulder, Colorado. In 1947 Denzil graduated from Boulder High School. On August 19, 1952 he married Betty Ayers in Boulder where they began their life together. They raised two children, Ron and Cheryl, in Boulder and in 1990 they moved to Longmont and then in March of 2014 they moved to Helena, Oklahoma.
Denzil was a member of the Superior Historical Commission and the Bricklayers Union. His hobbies included: traveling, camping, gardening and woodworking. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family. He also liked to make things out of old wooden clothes pins. He was an amazing and talented man and was always willing and ready to help anyone who needed it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertie Acklin; sister, Genevieve Crawford and one niece, Janna Cruthers.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Acklin; son, Ron Acklin and Daphne; daughter, Cheryl Valentiner and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Jason, Leslie and husband, Clint, Joshua, Sara and husband, Andrew, Lori and Brian; great grandchildren, Taylor and wife, Taelor Rae, Dustin, Austin, Liam, Mason and Amya; one great great grandchild, Blaklei.
Graveside service will be September 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder, Colorado. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc
