Delbert Roberts

Delbert Keith Roberts was born at Newton, Kansas to Elmer and Pauline Money Roberts on February 22, 1938. He attended grade school in Peabody, Kansas and high school in Kiowa, Kansas, graduating in 1957.

 He came to Kiowa in 1953 and began working at the “Phillips 66” Station for Glen Beydler. On July 14, 1963, he and Mayvis Lehr were married in Alva, Oklahoma. In November 1963, he leased the “Phillips 66” Service Station from Joe Baldwin. In March 1991, he went to work at the O.K. Coop Service Station and retired in December of 2015. 

 Delbert is a member of the Congregational Church, Cosmos Lodge #278, the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He Served for many years on the Kiowa Fire Department and was the Chief for a period of time. 

 Those who have preceded Delbert in death are his wife, Mayvis Roberts; his parents, Elmer and Pauline Roberts; his stepdad, Richard Davis; sister, Darlene Downey; sister-in-law, Marvel Lehr; brother-in-law, Keith Ratcliffe, and nephew, Phil Tyner.

 Delbert’s survivors include his daughter and husband, Elaine and Ed Warren of Wimberley, Texas; his son and wife, Keith and Jayne Roberts of Alva, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Erica and Marcus Skelton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Rebecca Roberts and fiancé, Brandon Murry of Alva, Oklahoma; great grandson, Kyler Lee Scott; brother-in-law, Darrel Lehr; sister-in-law , Donna Beth Ratcliffe, and other relatives and friends.

 Funeral service for Delbert will be Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Congregational Church at 2:00 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present.
