Funeral service for Delbert Boyd Luginbill, 74, of Helena, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Timberlake High School Auditorium in Helena with Gary Lillie and Spencer LeForce officiating. Burial will follow in Karoma Cemetery near Goltry. Viewing at the funeral will Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Delbert was born to Francis and Erma Young Luginbill on April 7, 1939 in Goltry and passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 in Enid.
Delbert grew up in Goltry, attended school there and graduated with the class of 1957. He married Sandra Ewing and to this marriage three children were born: Cindy, Bryan and Andy. He was employed at Vance Air Force Base and retired after 37 years as Assistant Fire Chief. He was an active member of the community and served on the Helena Town Board and was city Mayor for multiple terms.
Delbert loved the Wildwood Chapel at Salt Plains Lake and was a dedicated supporter for many years. He enjoyed spending time at his lake cabin and taking care of cattle on his farm. Other hobbies were fishing and hunting with kids and grandkids. He was a dedicated Timberlake Fan never missing a chance to watch his grandkids play sports. Leisure time was spent visiting casinos with family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Erma, who turned 100 this year; wife, Sandra of 53 years; daughter, Cindy Severin and husband, Brian of Goltry; son, Bryan Luginbill and wife, Jeannie of Stillwater and son, Andy Luginbill and wife, Gina of Owasso. He was also loved and survived by eight grandchildren, Tyler and wife, Jordan, Brandon, Kylee, Brady, Riley, Lauren, Leyton and Asher and one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis and one brother, Robert “Bob” Luginbill.
Delbert and family request that any memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) through the funeral home.
