Funeral service for Deborah Jane (Richert) Regier, 68, of Ringwood, will be on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno, OK. The family will hold a time of fellowship at John and Deb’s home on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Deb was born to Bob and Dorothy Richert in Enid, Oklahoma, on January 1, 1956. Mom always lamented being the second baby born of the year thus missing out on all the “prizes” of being the New Year’s Baby. She passed on October 16, 2024, after a valiant battle with brain cancer. Mom spent her life raising her four kids, farming, feeding everyone that came through her door, hosting any and all family gatherings, and being a fantastic grandma to all her beloved grandkids. She worked for XTO Energy/Exxon Mobil in Ringwood, Oklahoma for 20 years and truly enjoyed her time there. She kept everyone in line and made friends who became family. She also served as the Chair of the Major County Republican Party where she found the politics interesting and the people wonderful.
Deb married her high school sweetheart, John Regier, on March 29, 1974, in Meno, Oklahoma. They were married for 49 years, just missing their 50th anniversary by a few months. They have four children: Emily, Maggie, Jake and Libby. Throughout her life, Mom could always be found attending any one of her children’s or grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved a good game and her post-game commentary was legendary in our family.
Mom was a member of New Hopedale Mennonite Church for her entire life and loved her church family like her own. One of her favorite church activities was Vacation Bible School – helping at VBS gave her a true sense of joy. For this reason, we picked that specific fund for her memorial; we know Mom would love to know that she’s still contributing to VBS for years to come.
She is survived by husband, John; daughter Emily with her four children Ella, Avan, Jules, and Jocelyn; daughter Maggie and husband Kory with their four children Eli, Anna, Nora, and Lena; son Jake and fiancée Michelle with her daughter Lexi; and daughter Libby and husband Jesse with their son Hank. She is also survived by her mom, Dorothy, and siblings: Robin (Randy) Souter, Jim (Joy) Richert, Steve (Jeanne) Richert, and Mike (Diana) Richert; special sister-in-law Patsy (Paul) Regier; as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews. In addition, her steady companion, Ralph Stanley Cat, is missing her dearly.
We want to extend a very special thank you to our Complete Hospice providers Karri, Jessica, and Monica. They made an impossible journey possible through their steadfast love and care of not only mom but all of us. Additionally, we would like to extend thanks to all of our family and friends who have offered help, prayers, food, and love to our family during this very trying time. We are forever grateful to you all.
Memorials may be made to the New Hopedale Mennonite Church Vacation Bible School fund through the funeral home.
