Dean Brintnall

Dean W. Brintnall, 82, of Kiowa, Kansas died Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Kiowa Hospital. He was born August 29, 1934, one mile north of Chester, Oklahoma in the Church of Christ Parsonage to Byron and Jessie (Gingrich) Brintnall, in Chester, Oklahoma.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict after graduating from Seiling High School with the class of 1952. Following his service, he graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1960 with a degree in accounting. He spent his career in agriculture-centered management, finance and banking. He served the Farmers Cooperative at Hazelton, Kansas as manager and later worked at the National Bank for Cooperatives (CoBank), retiring in 1995. Even during retirement he continued his interest and experience in these areas serving as a Director on the Board of the First State Bank for many years as well as on the Board for South Central Telephone Communications as well as serving as the Personal Representative of several estates. He and Charlene Cunningham were married in 1960.

Dean was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kiowa and served as treasurer for many years, always keeping in mind whose money he was managing there, not the members or his but God's money. He also supported the Kiowa Recycling Center as well as enjoyed meeting with friends for coffee, even though he never drank coffee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, three sisters-in-law, Eugene and Genie, Wayne and Wendell and Sandy, Alma Jean Ellison, as well as three brothers-in-law, Jesse James, Henry Holmes, and Jack Ellison.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Brintnall of Kiowa; his son, Ray (Jean) Brintnall of Hiawatha; his daughter, Sheila Brintnall of Alva, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jay (fiance Jessica) Brintnall and Jessie Brintnall of Hiawatha; one sister, Bessie Holmes of Enid, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Alvena Brintnall of Bethany, Oklahoma and Alice Faye James of Chandler, Oklahoma as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A final remembrance would be of the three faithful dogs of Sheila's that brought him much companionship and joy over the years.

Services will be held Friday, October 7, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Kiowa, Kansas at 1:30 p.m. Graveside service with military honors will follow at Alva Municipal Cemetery in Alva, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be made to Kiowa First United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
