David Rogers

April 1, 1975 — January 24, 2014

David Charles Rogers was born to Oma Lea and Dave Rogers on April 1, 1975 in Ponca City, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. His death came suddenly due to complications from Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

Other than his college years, he lived his life in Medford. He attended Medford Public Schools all 13 years and graduated in 1993 as senior class president. He lettered all four years in football, basketball, and track. He was state discus champion his sophomore, junior, and senior years. As a senior, he was chosen for the Oklahoma 8-Man All-Star Football Team, as the Cardinal homecoming king, and received his Oklahoma State FFA Degree. He then attended UCO where he played football, then transferred to OSU, and later studied to be an auto body technician at Meridian Vo-Tech in Stillwater.

He owned and operated Custom Paint and Body in Medford for nine years before taking a job with Gonzales Welding and Construction, and currently was employed by ONEOK Hydrocarbon L. P. in Medford since 2010 as an intermediate mechanic.

He lived his life large just like his stature. He loved his family, children, friends new and old, his classmates of ’93, Cardinal teammates, anything Harley-Davidson, Nascar, laughing and being the life of the party, and he loved his mama’s cooking. He was usually the first on the job and the last to leave and expected the job to be done right the first time. He looked forward to helping with the Mennem family harvest every year.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Charlie and Hazel Pitcher and paternal grandparents E.K. and Martha Rogers.

Those who will cherish his memory are his mother Oma Lea Rogers, Medford, father and step-mother Dave and Tomi Rogers, Medford, sister Lea Anne Shelton and nephew Ryan Shelton, Blackwell, brother and sister-in-law Daniel and Alea Rogers and niece Charlee, Enid, girlfriend Bridget Cink and daughter Marlee, step children John and Rose Zobisch, Josh and Talyn Zobisch, Ronni and Misael Herrera, and Kathryn and Armando Hernandez; step grandchildren Aryanna, Cameron, Parker, and Joslyn Zobisch, Lilyanna and Hayzlee Herrera, and Christian Hernandez, step brothers Andrew Boepple and Johnny Rogers and son Bentley, step sisters Mary Callahan and Megan Ferda, and his life-long buddy, Brad Mennem.
