Ringwood-Funeral service for David McCormick, 77, will be Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ringwood with Pastor Brian Frable officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery west of Meno.
David was born on February 22, 1936 in Albany, Oregon to Lawrence A McCormick and Ruth McGuire McCormick and passed from this life on June 3, 2013 at his home in Ringwood. David attended Catholic high school in Portland, Oregon. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 – 1959. David was a meat cutter, first in a slaughter house and then in retail business. He married Glenda Jeffries Phipps on May 1, 1971 in Reno, Nevada. David served in Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster. He loved to camp, golf and square dance. His hobbies included woodworking and yard work. David was a member of First Baptist Church in Ringwood.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda McCormick; children, Kathie and Rene Bourque, Dale and Mary Phipps, Sherry and Kurt Cafaro; eight grandchildren, Trisha Hess, Tanya Hess, Erica and Justin Hardin, Matthew and Amber Phipps, Nathanial Phipps, Maegy and Michael Bouck, Jeremy and Kim Higdon and Britainy Bourque; five great grandchildren, Hunter Hardin, Haylee Hardin, Asher Bouck, Elijah Phipps and Jane Higdon; his brothers, John and Matthew and sister, Margaret.
Those who preceded David in death include his parents; one sister, Beth; his first wife, Joyce and one sister-in-law, Katie.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church Missions or the Baptist Children’s Home through the funeral home.
