Darla “June” Zeman was born November 22, 1933 in Shamrock, Texas, an only child, to Nevis Brown Horne. June went home to be with her Lord on Friday, November 6, 2020. June was a lifelong resident of Medford. As a child she worked with her mother and stepfather at Horne’s Hatchery in Medford selling eggs and baby chicks all over the U.S. and seven countries. She graduated from Medford High School in 1952. On August 4, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Elvin Edward Zeman in Enid and three children were born to this union. Elvin served in the U.S. Army Artillery from 1952-1954, at which time, June stayed home with her mother and stepfather and helped them with the hatchery, worked at the tag office and the Country Inn Restaurant. Upon Elvin’s return from service, June was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and dominos with family and friends, gardening, caring for her flowers, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. June was a member of Medford First United Methodist Church and Medford Busy Moms.
