Dale Leon Bruce, 66, of Cherokee, Oklahoma, passed away on April 7, 2013 in his home.
Dale was born in Wichita, Kansas on March 20, 1947 to Dorothy Jean Bruce (Hawkins) and Sherman Bruce. He graduated from Circle High School and served in the Army Reserve.
Dale was married to Frances M. Bruce (Bahr) on September 22, 1981 in Harper, Kansas; they were married 31 years..
Dale worked as a truck driver for Paul Transportation for many years. His occupation allowed him the opportunity to visit relatives in other states. This brought great joy to many family members that would have otherwise not had an opportunity to see him. Dale was known for his excellent short stop skills on the softball field, where he made many lifelong friends. Dale was also known for his skills on his guitar and could always brighten a mood with his music; he was even known to serenade his wife a time or two. In past years, Dale had annual “Springfest” birthday parties; many may remember even the law enforcement was invited a time or two. Friends and family knew him as a hunter, trapper and fisherman. On his most recent trip “down under” to Australia, he had the chance to fish with his grandsons. Dale was an avid hunter and was able to unload his pump shot gun much faster than others could with their automatic. Dale was also actively involved in praise and worship ministry at Bethel Church for many years. Dale was known for his witty sense of humor and charming smile.
