Coleman David “Dave” Rogers

Coleman David “Dave” Rogers passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at his home in Medford, Oklahoma.  Dave was born in Amarillo, Texas to Elmer Kirkpatrick and Martha Streeter Rogers on May 9, 1949.  Dave attended school in Fargo, Oklahoma. He moved to his forever home, Medford, Oklahoma in 1969, where he found a job with Thornhill-Gibson Service Station. Dave also worked for Downing Implement, the Ciskowski brothers’ Grant Equipment, Adam’s Equipment, Brandt’s Farm Store (1971-76) in Ponca City, and Grant County District #I and District #2 as road foreman. After retirement from the County, he began his own furniture restoration business.

In 1970 Dave married Oma Lea Pitcher and became like a son to Charlie and Hazel Pitcher. Dave joined Charlie in farming and raising cattle. To this union was born David, Lea Anne, and Daniel.

In 1988 Dave and Tomi Jill Sawyer Boepple were married.  Dave became a step-dad to Andrew, Mary, Megan, and Johnny, which he considered like his own. After retirement Dave and Tomi enjoyed traveling.

Dave was an avid gun collector and thoroughly enjoyed riding motorcycles. Earlier this year, he fulfilled one of his dreams by buying a bright red “trike” with a trailer.  He rode the 100+ miles on Big Dave’s Memorial Ride April 27, 2019 without complaint.

Those preceding him in death include his parents, E.K. and Martha Rogers; his wife of 28 years, Tomi; his son, David Charles Rogers; half-brothers, Rocky and Dale Rogers, and  half-sisters, Billy Margaret and Pat Humphreys.

Dave is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Rogers (Chris Rojas); half-brother, Gary (Mary) Oxelsen and half-sister, Judy Heffington; children, Lea Anne (Michael Sims) Shelton, Daniel (Alea) Rogers, Andrew Joseph (Paul Pearson), Mary (Billy) Callahan, Megan (Paul) Ferda, and John (Kimberly) Rogers; grandchildren, Ryan Shelton, Bentley Rogers, Charlee Rogers, Phoenix Rogers, Corbin Rogers, and Ryder Rogers; nephews, Benjamin P. (Diana) Schuster and Stephen Schuster; nieces, Dinah Schuster (Michael Stevenson), Hannah Schuster (Billy Nassar).

Graveside services, conducted by Rev. Craig VanDeburgh, were held at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Nardin on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:00 A.M.  Dave was buried beside his wife, Tomi.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to the Dave Rogers’ Memorial Fund for his grandchildren’s college education. The funeral home will serve as custodian for these funds.
