Clara M. Neuman, 97, of Medford passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:45 p.m. at the Community Health Center in Wakita.
Visitation will be held at the Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. in Medford on April 26, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Medford on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Medford Mennonite Cemetery, presided by Reverend Leonard Reimer. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford.
Clara was born on the family farm near Medford to P.M. and Susie (Janzen) Reimer on April 5, 1919. She attended Country School District 44 and married the love of her life, Alvin Neuman, on June 16, 1940 at the Medford Mennonite Church. She was an active member of the church and continued after its closing in later years as a member of the Deer Creek Mennonite Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and held many positions therein.
She was well-known for her hospitality, her generosity and her room-warming smile. An avid and talented gardener, Clara was also renowned for her lovely iris and rose gardens. She was a gracious and welcoming hostess, passionately caring for her family and always available to provide aid or comfort. She will be remembered by all as a kind and loving mother and grandmother.
Clara is survived by her three children, Linda (Mickey) Trimble of Topeka, Kansas, Jim (Linda) Neuman of Longview, Texas, Bev (Steve) Shriver of Enid; one sister, LaVera Towns of Palco, Kansas; one brother, Elmer Reimer of Enid; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
