Christina Louise Kimminau

March 16, 1958 — April 19, 2025

Cherokee, Oklahoma

Christina "Chris" Louise (Provence) Kimminau was born in Winfield, Kansas, on March 16, 1958, and she passed from this life on April 19, 2025. She graduated from Cherokee High School in May of 1976 and wasted no time marrying her high school sweetheart, Peewee Kimminau, on July 23rd of the same year. They were 3 months shy of their 49th anniversary at the time of her passing. To this union, four children were born: Robert, Curtis, Bryan, and Katelyn.

She enjoyed volunteering, along with her husband, with the local Boy Scout troop. They spent many summers, along with their children, camping at Williams Scout Reserve, impacting the lives of countless young men. Chris thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, spending as much time as she could camping, fishing, or working in her flower beds. There is a decent chance she had four children just so she would have 8 extra hands for pulling weeds and moving dirt. We'll never know for sure.

If she wasn't outside, she was inside reading some tawdry romance novel with Fabio on the cover, watching reality TV at full volume, or not-so-silently judging everyone on her Facebook feed. One of her favorite activities was Friday night bingo with her best friend, Roberta "Speed" Berry, in Kiowa. She very well may have enjoyed the gossip on the car ride to and from more than the actual bingo. She also loved to participate in local parades.

Of all the monikers she's gone by, her favorite was undoubtedly Meme. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and enjoyed spoiling them at every opportunity. They were her very favorite people.

Chris was wildly opinionated and entirely uncaring of other people's opinions of her. She was unapologetically herself every single day, and that is how she charmed almost everyone she met. If you know, you know. Some people take being called obstinate as an insult, but she wore it as a badge of honor. She was a spark in our community, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Chris is preceded in death by her father, Phillip Provence; her infant grandson, Jaxon Kimminau; and her daughter-in-law, Missy Kimminau.

Chris is survived by her husband, Peewee Kimminau; her children Robert Kimminau and wife, Michelle, Curtis Kimminau, Bryan Kimminau, and Katelyn Hague and husband, Luke; her mother, Virginia Chadrick; her brother, Tom; her sister, Terry; her father-in-law, Bob Kimminau; grandchildren: Nicholas, Jacey, Jagger, Marley, Henry, Nolan, and Jack, as well as numerous nieces and nephews (some by blood, most by choice).
