Charles Mcwilliams

BURLINGTON-Charles McWilliams passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Kiowa District Hospital. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Driftwood Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Hazelton, Kansas.

Charles was born on April 2, 1930 to Charles M. McWilliams and Susan Whitehead McWilliams at Burlington, Oklahoma. He attended Burlington High School and graduated with the class of1948. During high school Charles worked for a farmer and followed the wheat harvest for 3 years. Charles served in the US Navy from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean war. On November 12, 1954 he and DeVeda Martin were united in marriage and to this union three children were born, Greg, Kim and Debbie. Charles worked for Phillips Pipeline Company in Oklahoma and Texas until his retirement in 1989 and returned to Phillips as a contractor serving as a project supervisor at Borger, Texas. His mother passed away at a young age and Charles was raised by his stepmother, Goldie. Greg and Charles had learned to fish together and enjoyed that time shared. Charles was a good husband, he loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all of them.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold McWilliams; one sister, Imogene Page; son-in-law, Pug Myers.

He is survived by his wife, DeVeda; one son, Greg McWilliams and wife, Thomasine; two daughters, Kim Myers and Debbie Allen and husband, Howard Ray; four grandchildren, Alana McWilliams, Megan McWilliams and her two children, Madisyn and Mackenzie, Daya and Laura Myers-Hurt, DeDra Allen; sister-in-law, Hester McWilliams; brother-in-law, Eldon Page and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with the family present to receive friends from 4-6.

Memorials may be made to the Kiowa District Hospital or choice.
