Cleo Springs-Funeral service for Carolyn, 81, will be Friday, December, 9, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Cleo Springs Nazarene Church. Viewing will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Fairview Fellowship Home or Deaf Missions.
Carolyn was born on October 14, 1935 in Woods County, Oklahoma to Hurchel Marion Smith and Irene Reihm Smith and passed from this life on December 4, 2016 in Fairview. She graduated from the State School of the Deaf in Sulphur, Oklahoma in 1956. On August 16, 1958 Carolyn married Ivan Renshaw in Enid. Carolyn was a seamstress, cook and housekeeper at Fairview Fellowship Home until she retired on February 8, 1994. She had lived in this area for over 50 years. Carolyn enjoyed sewing, painting, drawing and helping others. She taught sign language to the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts as well as many others. Carolyn and Ivan enjoyed traveling and camping in the motor home, traveling with family and their many deaf friends to twenty states all over the nation. She was a member of the Oklahoma Association for the Deaf, Enid Deaf Club and a charter member of the “Happy Deaf Campers.” Carolyn was a Christian and came to know the Lord in 1991.
Those who preceded her in death include her father, Hurchel Smith; mother, Irene Reihn Smith Bartness; step-father, Aldred N. Bartness and sister, Izetta Schriner Schinstock.
Survivors include her husband, Ivan Renshaw of Cleo Springs; two children, Jerry Renshaw and wife, Jogay of Elgin and Randall Renshaw and wife, Liza of Beaver; sisters, Colleen Willms and husband, Jim of Kingfisher and Donna Rich and husband, Jack of Enid; seven grandchildren, Malanda Renshaw Rust, Micah Huey, Nichole Renshaw Jackson, Jared Huey, Brandon Renshaw, Jared Ibison Renshaw and Ryan Renshaw; four great grandchildren, Raynie Renshaw, Jaxon Renshaw, Jade Jackson and Jordyn Jackson.
