Cameron Hays

June 12, 1932 — April 1, 2015

Okeene-Funeral service for Cameron Hays, 82, will be Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Homestead Church of the First Born. Viewing will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 until 7:00.

Cameron was born on June 12, 1932 in Colorado to Stewert Merton Hays and Mae Elizabeth Pierce Hays and passed from this life on April 1, 2015 at OU Medical Center. After high school graduation, he graduated from Okmulgee Tech as an electrician. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a medic. On March 2, 1953 he married Barbara Joan Smith in Fairview. Cameron's work career included being a lineman for Oklahoma Gas and Electric, owning his own electrical business with his son, Gary, working for North Blaine Water and then for the City of Okeene. Cameron was always kept busy as he was very handy as a carpenter with accomplishments in restoring thirteen houses, cabinet making and building many other things. Cameron's hobbies included hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle with his dog Ginger on the back. He was a member of Church of the First Born in Homestead and was an ordained minister of his church.

Those who preceded him in death include his wife, Joan on April 12, 2012; his parents; his sister, Vivian and his brother, Robert.

Survivors include four children, Gary Hays of Okeene, Teresa Kuehn and husband, David of Whitney, Texas, Cindy Schwartz and husband, Benny of Okeene, Tina Hays and fiance, Tony Outhier of Okeene; grandchildren, Heather Hood and husband, Victor of Enid, Ronnie Cantrell and wife, Michelle of Hillsboro, Texas, Clint Cantrell and wife, Christina of Whitney, Texas, Amie Hood and husband, Clyde of Canton, Amber Hinchey and husband, Tim of Moore, Audre Schwartz and fiance, Ruben Leal of Okeene, Ashley Dull and fiance Tanner Morrow of Okeene, Joel Bernhardt of Okeene, Alisha Neil of Enid, Eric Bernhardt of Okeene, Karl Outhier and wife, Amber of Fairview; twenty-one great grandchildren, Ashlynn Hood, Josh Cantrell, Cayden Cantrell, Ckylar Cantrell, Summer Houpt, Hailey, Hannah and Hopelin Hood, Victoria and Phoenix Hinchey, Cameron Ryel, Colton and Clayton Miller, Jaelynn Miller, Janice, Stormie, Joseph and Little Joel Bernhardt, Liam Leal, Kastin Leal, Lyric Outhier.

Memorials may be given to church through the funeral home.
