Jet-Billy Lee “Bill” Dunavant was born at Jet on February 7, 1927 to parents, Howard James Dunavant and Velma Virginia Russell Dunavant and passed from this life in Enid on February 19, 2019. He was raised in the Jet area and graduated from Jet High School. He had served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill and Elsie May Talley were married on May 20, 1954 and they had a son, Rusty Dunavant. They continued living in Jet where Bill did his life’s work as a farmer and a carpenter. He was a member of Jet Christian Church and American Legion #4. He had served on Jet School Board, Jet Town Board, Farmers Coop Board and Jet Volunteer Fire Department.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie May Dunavant on April 6, 1988.
Those surviving are his son, Rusty Joe Dunavant of Jet and grandson, Shean Joseph Dunavant and wife, Madison of Nash. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Addyson and Hastyn Dunavant.
There will be a graveside service for Bill at Pleasant View Cemetery near Jet on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. There will be no viewing. www.lanmanmemorials.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
