Graveside service will be at Pleasant View Cemetery north of Jet on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Viewing will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Cherokee.
Betty Lee Smith passed away Tuesday September 17, 2013, while recovering from back surgery in the hospital in Longview, Texas. Lee was born in Cherokee November 6, 1950, graduated from Jet High School in 1969 and then from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Class of 1973. She taught school in Kansas, drove a truck for thirteen years and had been living in Gladewater, Texas, working for Wal-Mart in the Gladewater/Longview area for the past twenty-three years. She first set up new stores and then worked various department management positions.
Lee is survived by son, Don and Phadra Azbill of Ashland City, Tennessee and their children, Zachary and Natasha Azbill and Trey Romero and son, Tony and Shannon Azbill of Anchorage, Alaska; her mother, Alice Smith of Duncan; two sisters, Jake Hagstrom of Longview, Washington and B. J. Gunn of Tijeras, New Mexico and brother, Tom Smith of Duncan.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jesse Smith and grandparents Leland and Bertha Sample and H. T. and Susie Smith.
