Hardtner- Graveside service for Andy H. Black, 84, will be Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Kiowa District Hospital through the funeral home.
Andy was born November 4, 1930 in Salina, Kansas to Dewey and Inez Black. He passed away on January 13, 2015.
The family moved to Hardtner, Kansas in 1938. He graduated from Hardtner High School in 1948. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He is a member of the Hardtner Legion Post #175.
He married Billie Logan in 1957 in Kiowa, Kansas. They had two sons: Jeff and Jay. He graduated from Northwestern University in Alva, Oklahoma with a degree in chemistry. He began work at Boeing Aircraft in 1957 as a chemist and lived in Haysville. Then in 1970 he returned to Hardtner to work for Bob Sterling and the Kiowa Sale Company. He also owned and operated the Hardtner Motel for several years.
His hobbies were his grandkids, all sports, Dallas Cowboy Football and BS'ING with Bob Sterling.
He is survived by sons, Jeff Black and wife, Stacy of Hardtner, Kansas and Jay Black of Great Bend, Kansas; grandsons, Dalton and Conner of Hardtner;; brother, Larry Black of Wichita, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie; brother, Roger; sisters, Norma Jean Feaster and Shirley Campbell.
