Adalia was born August 13, 1925 in Canton, Oklahoma to Katherine Elizabeth Winters Leis and Con Leis and passed from this life December 14, 2014. Adalia grew up attending school in Canton and Okeene, graduating from Okeene High School as Salutatorian in 1943. She also attended Draughan’s Business School in Oklahoma City.
Adalia married Jacob John Jantzen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okeene, Oklahoma on August 13, 1944. They established their home in Ringwood. While Jake was in the U.S. Army in 1945 they lived in Petersburg, Virginia where Adalia worked as an auditor for the American National Red Cross Eastern Area Headquarters. After Christmas that year she was asked to keep books for a 450 employee Cafeteria which she did until November, 1946 when Jake left the Army and they returned back home. Adalia also worked for Henry Boeckman and State Guaranty Bank in Okeene, Oklahoma.
Adalia & Jake built their home North of Ringwood in 1961 where she resided until just recently. She supported Jake and their children throughout her life with farming, FFA, school events, college, careers, businesses and families.
Adalia was a long time member of the New Hopedale Mennonite Church in Meno, Oklahoma. Adalia was on the Board of Directors of the Major County Historical Society.
Adalia was an amazing home maker, sewed and mended clothing, and a wonderful cook. She also loved gardening and canning. Her favorite was caring for the Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren in every way possible. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother who will be missed by all.
Adalia is survived by her children: son, Jerry Jantzen and his wife, Sandy of Deer Creek; daughter, Katherine Osborne of Ringwood; son, Terry Jantzen of Las Vegas, New Mexico; son, Larry Jantzen & wife, Audrey of Ringwood; brother-in-law, Arnold Jantzen, sister-in-law, Pearl Jantzen Unruh, sister-in-law Dona Jantzen Harmon & husband, Jerry.
Grandchildren: Jerry’s sons, Kyle Jantzen and wife Lisa, Trent Jantzen; Kathy’s daughters, Brandi Reynolds and husband Jay, Cindi Horton and husband Kyle; Terry’s daughter, Tonya Jantzen; Larry’s daughters, Jessica Jantzen and Braznee Jantzen.
Great Grandchildren: Kyle & Lisa’s children Kaylee Raine & Chase Jacob Jantzen, Trent’s daughter Julia Lee Jantzen, Brandi & Jay’s sons Thomas Jay, Joshua Paul, Van Jacob & Rex Conrad Reynolds, Cindi & Kyle’s children Ethan Kyle, Max Jantzen, & Finn Adalia Horton and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Con Leis, Jr. infant died at 18 months & Con Leis, Jr. adult brother died at 83, Manuel Leis, William Edwin Leis; 3 sisters, Hilda Leis Nelson, Katie Leis Rauh Jantzen, Molly Leis Hoffman.
Service for Adalia will be Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at New Hopedale Mennonite Church in Meno with Rev. James Suderman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 until 8:00. at the funeral home.
